Deborah McWhinney Emerging Leaders Fellowship

The Fund will support a fellowship for high potential business (majors or minors) students of any grade who will interview with faculty and external constituents to be considered for the opportunity annually. Based upon the interviews, awardees and award amounts will be decided by a committee appointed by the dean of the College of Business. Allowed expenses include student travel expenses, enrichment activities, and other opportunities as they arise as well as expenses associated with the administration of the fellowship.

  1. The McWhinney Fellowship supports high potential business students who participate in internships that complement their degree program and increase professionalism. Fellowship awards are decided by a committee appointed by the dean of the College of Business. Applicants must submit the essay below and an estimated budget at the following link. Finalists will be selected to interview with the committee and awardees will be chosen based on the interviews. Fellows are required to participate in mentorship with Debby McWhinney and a Q&A session after their experience. Students must have at least one semesters of study left after their experience. Submit a one-page essay outlining why you chose this particular internship and list three ways you plan to maximize this experience (above and beyond what is required).
