Dorothy Rochon Powers Scholarship

The Dorothy Rochon Powers Scholarship provides an annual award to an outstanding junior, senior or graduate-level student in journalism who shows the greatest promise as a reporter, editor or columnist. The recipient must reflect the high qualities of integrity, intelligence, enthusiasm, energy and enterprise demonstrated by Dorothy Rochon Powers. Financial need is of critical importance, as the award should go to a student who would be unable to pursue a career in journalism without the scholarship. The journalism faculty committee will nominate students, then reduce the number of nominees to three exceptional students, each of whom will submit examples of their work and an autobiographical sketch to the Cowles Publishing Company for consideration.
