Carol Van Valkenburg Endowed Scholarship

The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana undergraduate students in the School of Journalism according to the following guidelines: Recipient selection: The first priority for awarding shall be a scholarship award to a student who is majoring in journalism and serving as an editor at the Montana Kaimin student newspaper, with preference given to the editor-in-chief, though final selection is at the discretion of the scholarship selection committee. It is intended that the Montana Kaimin editor scholarship will cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees for an in-state or out-of state student. Remaining spendable funds may be awarded to students majoring in Journalism and are intended to support experiential learning, internships, study abroad or other direct student support. The current head of the School of Journalism, in consultation with Journalism faculty, shall inform annual priorities for direct student support.
