Osher Reentry Scholarship Endowment
The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana undergraduate non-traditional students who will be referred to as Osher Reentry Scholars and be selected according to the following guidelines:
1. Have experienced a cumulative gap in their education of five or more years.
2. Are at the undergraduate level and pursuing their first baccalaureate degree.
3. Anticipate participation in the workforce for a significant period of time subsequent to graduation.
4. Demonstrate financial need, not necessarily on their FAFSA.
5. Show academic promise and a commitment to obtaining their degree.
6. Are either full- or part-time students.
7. Preference should be given to newly matriculating students.
In the second year of the program and beyond, returning Osher Reentry Scholars, who have reapplied and continue to meet all other criteria, may be given preference as well. No individual scholarship may exceed $5,000 per academic year. Osher funds should supplement rather than replace existing institutional support for this population. The funds are not intended for students exclusively enrolled in online courses or for international students who are visiting the United States with the intention of returning to their countries or origin after graduation.
Scholarship awards must be applied to student tuition and fees exclusively. Funds shall not be used for books, lab fees, childcare services, or transportation costs.
In the event that there are no scholarship applicants who meet the provisions outlined, awards may be made to University of Montana students showing both academic promise and significant financial need.
