Lee Enterprises Native American Scholarship

The Lee Enterprises Native American Journalism Endowment provides an annual scholarship to a Native American student enrolled full time at The University of Montana. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA while in college and declare a major in journalism as required by UM. The scholarship will be awarded annually, if the student is meeting all requirements and re-applies each year, they may receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years, or until a degree is awarded, whichever comes first. The intent is to award a substantial scholarship in relation to tuition. Additional awards may be granted if available funding exceeds the amount required to fund the primary scholarship. In addition to the scholarship, a portion of the budget may be used for recruiting of Native American students, including the occasional awarding and recognition of high school students for writing achievements.
