Birdwell Scholarship in Journalism

A recipient must be: (1) a Montanan, (2) a Native American, (3) journalism major – it is strongly preferred that the student’s emphasis be in broadcast journalism, (4) any class year is eligible including graduate students. Should circumstances change such that the Native American requirement is deemed contrary to law, then any Montana student who otherwise meets the criteria noted may be considered. The recipient shall be selected on the basis of need over grade point average, and the award is renewable year after year provided the student is deemed worthy of further support by the selection committee and has reapplied.
