Robert and Eleanor Weidman Scholarship in Geology

The purpose of the Robert and Eleanor Weidman Scholarship in Geology is to provide an annual award to an undergraduate in his or her third or fourth year, majoring in Geosciences. Recipients must have completed at least one year of study at The University of Montana-Missoula, including three or more courses in Geosciences. No one student will be eligible for renewal, although under unusual circumstances, exceptions may be made. Selection will be primarily based on scholastic ability, but academic potential, character and financial need should also be factored into the decision. The recipient should have strong interest in classical geology or field studies. Although the award will ordinarily be applied to tuition and fees, upon advance approval by Geosciences faculty, part or all of the award may be used for enrollment in the summer field course or to support a field-based project of independent study. This must be approved by the faculty and a final report is to be presented to the faculty and student body.
