James and Joy Mariska Endowed Business Scholarship

The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana graduate or undergraduate students in the College of Business according to the following guidelines:

1. Recipient selection: UM students who are, or have been affiliated with the military (Active Duty, National Guard, Reserves, etc.). Preference shall be given to students who are pursuing studies in finance. Applicants must meet one or more of the following qualifications, listed in order of priority:

(A) those who are still serving on active duty;

(B) those who have recently completed active duty, i.e. returning veterans;

© those who are active members of the Reserves or the National Guard;

(D) the son or daughter of a veteran, with preference given to children of military servicemen who have been killed in action (KIA) or (MIA); or,

(E) ROTC Cadets, who are either juniors or seniors in the program and committed

to being commissioned. ROTC leadership will provide guidance in these cases to gauge students’ intent.

Awards shall be made based upon merit, with preference to students who are pursuing studies in finance, however, if there are no qualified business students, then other students may be selected as long as they meet the rest of the criteria. If a business student is selected, they must meet the minimum qualifications for scholarship eligibility established by the College of Business (the “COB”).
