Ulysses S. Doss Scholarship

The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana undergraduate students in the College of Humanities and Sciences according to the following guidelines: Sophomore, junior or senior students who are majoring or minoring in African American Studies. Recipients must have financial need as determined by the Office of Financial aid or its equivalent in existence at the time of the award. Preference shall be given to students who have performed community service. In the interest of promoting the University’s educational interest in attaining a diverse student body, special consideration will be given to students from diverse populations. Every reasonable effort will be made to ensure that applications for this scholarship include highly qualified students from diverse populations.

  1. Please provide a one-page single-spaced statement explaining what you value about being an African-Americans Studies student and include reference to community services you have fulfilled.
  2. To be eligible for the Doss Scholarship in African-American Studies, please provide one letter of reference from an African-American Studies affiliated faculty member.
