Paul Fawley Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the Paul Fawley Memorial Scholarship is to provide scholarships to students who are returning to the University to pursue careers as classroom teachers at the elementary or secondary level.

• Candidates may be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree; however the intent is not to prepare them for administrative work or teachers at the college level, but rather, for teaching in the K-12 grades.
• While academic performance is necessary and important, the basis for selection shall not be based on high academic performance, but rather on the candidate’s potential for success as a teacher.
• It must also be recognized that returning students may have family and other obligations that make it financially difficult to change or alter careers. For this reason, need is not to be a factor in determining the recipient.
• The highest priority should be on the individual’s desire and commitment to teach.
